I notice the pup selector switch likes to pop back to mid-position almost on it's own while playing. I want to put one on my 1965 Elitist I just got. I like the look, but what the hell was the washer about anyway? :huh: I was thinking about cutting a circle from the bottom of a black 35mm film can I have for that washer.

I'm sure Yoko Ono would get involved, have Gibson study & measure, and then release a limited edition, signed version of the black washer for $150 (with a portion going to a scholarship for wayward & underprivileged guitar players).
(perhaps the Lennon Estate and Epiphone should team up and sell 'Lennon-authorized' black washers at $25 + sales tax.they'd probably still find a lot of buyers) will they not sell you a black washer of the same size for a few cents? But if you take the old one off and take it with you to Ace Hardware / Lowes / Home Depot / your local Mom & Pop hardware store.
